The Daily Wire Investing In Kids Entertainment After Disney Controversy
In wake of the recent Disney controversy, The Daily Wire announced plans to launch a kid's entertainment program.
For those parents joining the growing movement to boycott Disney, another large media company is looking to pick up parents that are fed up with the ‘woke” culture indoctrinating itself into the lives of young children through media. There has been a growing call heard around the nation from parents upset over kids’ entertainment and what it has turned into today. Acknowledging this concern, the popular conservative media company, The Daily Wire, just announced their plans to invest a hefty chunk of funding into their own kid’s entertainment programs.
The Daily Wire’s Jeremy Boreing, who is the founder and co-chief executive officer of the media outlet released a statement yesterday announcing the company’s plans to invest a minimum of $100 million over the next three years to develop kid’s entertainment programs for the network. Founded in 2015 by Boreing alongside well-known conservative commentator Ben Shapiro, the company has become one of the top news outlets on Facebook. They also produce popular podcasts such as The Ben Shapiro Show. The Daily Wire already showed interest earlier this year in breaking further into the entertainment industry when they announced a movie project starring the controversial actress Gina Carano, but now they mean to even further their journey to children’s content, openly doing so in backlash to the events that have taken place in Florida over the last few weeks.
On Monday, Governor Ron DeSantis signed an education bill into law that has gained the attention of the nation for its controversial text. Officially called the Parental Rights in Education bill, opposers to the legislation have deemed it the Don’t Say Gay Bill. Protests and walkouts centered around Disney broke out, and a heated back and forth between conservatives and Disney has erupted. Sounding the alarm for The Daily Wire to take hold of this opportunity and create their own kid’s entertainment programming, parents that have recently vowed to boycott the Mouse House will surely be happy.
Between the back and forth banter, popular conservative Christopher Rufo, a critical race theory opposer and senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute stoked the flames on the Florida bill debate. Rufo shared footage on his Twitter account depicting a company-wide zoom call hosted by Disney President Karey Burke recently. Within the video, Burke told the employees of the company that Disney planned to further their support of the LGBTQ community. Going forward, she said that Disney planned to make at least half of their characters in kid’s entertainment LGBTQ.
Upset with the leaked video, the hashtag #boycottdisney began trending yesterday. Parents, already fed up with the company’s overly woke stance have vowed to never let their children watch the behemoth entertainment company’s content again. It was the perfect timing for The Daily Wire to introduce their new endeavor in kid’s entertainment. While the process is still in its early stages, the company said the plan is to build a line of live-action and animated programs that will be available to view on their streaming platform.
The Daily Wire says that the new kid’s entertainment lineup is expected to launch in the spring of 2023. The company has hired Eric Branscum and Ethan Nicolle of Veggie Tales in the House to helm the kid content development. For now, it remains unclear if the company will charge any extra fees to view the upcoming kid’s entertainment lineup.
