Kamala Harris recently addressed the National Education Association. As the largest teachers union in the nation, their far-left-leaning politics veered toward gun control amid mass school shooting concerns following the deadly Ulvade, Texas massacre —  which occurred just as the 2021-2022 school year was ending. Instead of focusing on healing and helping teachers address their fears, she pandered to progressive rhetoric which falsely implied that teachers are treating gun wounds at record rates and should vote for her party to prevent further incidents.

Instead of acknowledging that most school shooting incidents are isolated and do not affect masses of students, or focusing on community efforts to offer students further support to prevent gang violence and conflicts, she told teachers that they shouldn’t have to treat gun wounds, and decried the idea of arming teachers — although law enforcement was on scene at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde within minutes and stood down while an armed intruder went from classroom to classroom seeking victims. In addition, the odds of being involved in a mass school shooting are the same as being struck by lightning (1 in 10 million). Being that Kamala Harris isn’t working to prevent student/teacher lightning strikes proves that she is pandering to a one-sided agenda.

Although Kamala Harris claims to want to end violence, during the 2020 George Floyd riots, she praised Black Lives Matter — an organization that used donation funds to buy leaders a mansion — and even bailed out violent criminals when they were arrested for protesting by vandalizing property and assaulting people. In addition, she incited violence claiming that progress cannot be achieved “without a fight.” Although many mainstream news reports claimed that the protesters were peaceful, Americans were baffled when CNN displayed a video of rioters clearly acting in violence and even ran the headline, “Fiery But Mostly Peaceful Protests After Police Shooting.”

Harris supported this form of gaslighting by joining Joe Biden in claiming to condemn violence while supporting measures that rewarded rioters and even allowed criminals to return to the streets to find more victims. At least $2 billion in damage was reported to have come from the 2020 riots, and dozens of people were killed including a black retired police officer who was shot in cold blood in St. Louis, Missouri. One of the men Harris helped bail out has been charged with murder, and 6 others are alleged domestic abusers

If Kamala Harris is truly worried about violence, and gun crimes, urging teachers’ unions to play party politics isn’t likely to fix the issues plaguing schools. The United States is in the midst of a youth mental health national emergency. Police are receiving less support than ever and are less apt to stop violent criminals by force for fear of public backlash.

While Kamala Harris continues to say she’s against violence, her record speaks otherwise. Without proper security measures and support for teachers and students, no amount of speeches or teachers’ unions will solve these complex problems. While teachers can vote however they wish, so far, no administration has fully eradicated school violence regardless of previous gun control measures and gun-free policies.
