A pair of preschool teachers have been arrested for cruelty to children after they were caught on camera disciplining young students with intimidation and force. This occurred at Parker-Chase Preschool in Roswell, Georgia. The students involved were just three years old and investigators reviewed security camera footage after a few parents expressed concern. See some of the footage making its way across Twitter below.

Last week a mother stopped by her son’s preschool to see how he was doing and witnessed Zeina Alostwani and Soriana Briceno’s cruel actions against children in the class. She and another concerned parent called the police and rushed to the facility to protect their children and demand that the preschool teachers be fired. The security footage revealed that 19-year-old Soriana Briceno kneeled in front of a 3-year-old student during circle time and shoved her finger in the child’s face before pushing her head back with it. While this was going on, Zeina Alostwani crept up behind the group and stepped on the child’s hand. She then kneed the student sitting nearest in the back.

There is no telling what other incidents occurred before the preschool teachers were caught, but teacher abuse against students, even young children, has become an epidemic. From cruel physical attacks to sexual abuse, the amount of charges being filed against teachers across the nation is highly alarming. In New Jersey, a teacher has been accused of violently shoving a 7-year-old student with autism on the ground and dragging him to a stairwell before pushing him down the stairs. In New York, a teacher has been accused of choking a student. In Missouri, two unrelated students have accused a teacher of physical assault.

As if these claims aginst those like these preschool teachers weren’t disturbing enough, hundreds of sexual assault charges have been filed against teachers involving their behavior toward students. Just last month a preschool teacher at a private school was arrested for making child pornography with students. While investigators search for clues and build cases against teachers who harm children, young students have to learn to cope with being harmed by the people their parents entrusted them with.

The families of the children involved in the incident at Parker-Chase Preschool saw swift action but did not wish to be identified. Zeina Alostwani is being held on a $75,000 bond, while the other preschool teacher, Soriana Briceno has been denied bail due to the status of her asylum and immigration standing. Whether Briceno is a citizen of the United States has yet to be revealed, but her crime displays highly questionable actions that go against American laws which protect children from inappropriate discipline.

The parent company of the school in question released a statement regarding the preschool teachers which condemned their actions and worked to ease parents’ fears. They admitted that they were shocked at the incident in question and are “grateful that the children are well.” In addition, it was stated that “We expect our staff to adhere to the highest standards of care, and any failure to do so will not be tolerated.” How the investigation proceeds will determine the fates of those involved. For now, parents can rest easy knowing that their children are no longer in harm’s way.
