“Who’s our president?” It seems like an innocent enough question. The answer, “Biden,” also seems to be an innocent enough one as well. But what followed that simple question and answer routine was not even remotely innocent, especially when considering the question came from a pre-school teacher and the answer from her 4- and 5-year-old students.

Turning Point Christian School in Norco, California is under fire for a video that this pre-school teacher decided to share with parents during a President’s Day lesson being taught last month. Innocence was quickly lost as the teacher-student exchange progressed. “Who is our President?” the teacher could be heard asking the students who are lined up in class. In unison, the students yell, “Biden!” The teacher then asks the students, “What do we want to do with him?” Again, in unison, the young children yell, “We want him out!” When the teacher says, “What?” the kids shout back once more, “We want him out!”

The video was shared with parents on Turning Point’s school messaging app but was taken down shortly thereafter. One parent, Christina McFadden, removed her daughter from the school after viewing the video, though it wasn’t after some trepidation. “She loved it,” says McFadden to ABC 7 News, about her daughter’s time at the school. She even had kind words about the teachers – “I have no problems with them. I didn’t see anything happening that caught my attention or made me concerned.” But now, that is no longer the case after seeing the anti-Biden chant.

Turning Point, a non-profit Christian School, teaches pre-K through sixth grade. As the anti-Biden video made its rounds on the school’s Brightwheel app, the school promptly removed it three hours later, finally offering an apology to parents and students. In part, the apology said that the deleted video “did not share our school and church philosophy of honoring and respecting authority including those in government positions.” They then said, “We are sorry for any misunderstanding this could have created.”

But it was too much for McFadden, who said she had to watch the video a few times just to understand if she was actually seeing and hearing what was being said about President Biden. McFadden claims the preschool teacher was indoctrinating students. She says when she picked up her daughter from school that day was “The first thing that she said to me when I picked her up was “We want him out.” Like, that was the great message she learned that day. Her first history lesson.”

McFadden says her daughter thought it was funny. She tried to get an answer from the school about what the day’s lesson entailed but she was never given one. This, along with the anti-Biden video, was enough to take her daughter to another school. It also made McFadden wonder, if her daughter was being taught to speak out against Biden, what else was she learning that day in school. “It doesn’t matter at this point which side of the fence you are on; this can happen in your child’s classroom. And it is happening.”

So far Turning Point officials have offered no response. When pressed for one, a school administrator said there will be no statement made nor will they comment on the anti-Biden rhetoric. There is no word on if the teacher in question has faced or will face any disciplinary action.

“Indoctrination” seems to be a popular subject surrounding public and private schools lately. Many teachers within these school systems have been accused of using their position to teach kids right or left thinking, depending on a teacher’s political viewpoint. They have also been accused of indoctrinating young children with critical race theory teachings and gender identity. Recently, school leaders in Austin, Texas made elementary school children take part in a Pride Parade that kicked off their Pride Week.

School choice appeared to be the answer, but with Turning Point’s Biden controversy, is it? Public schools, and now private schools, are marching more and more to the beat of their own drum and it is putting parents who just want their children to learn reading, writing, and arithmetic in a tough spot. Legislation is moving as fast as possible to rid schools of these elements, but “fast as possible” isn’t fast enough. Where do we go from here?
