As their longstanding slogan goes, America runs on Dunkin, and so do teachers. Dunkin Donuts has been brewing up coffee for the American workforce for over seven decades. Today, the Massachusetts-based multinational fast-food chain recognizes hard-working teachers with a treat on Thursday, September 2nd, as they head back into the classroom.

Today, participating Dunkin Donuts restaurants will offer teachers free coffee to start their day off. The pick-me-up entails a free medium hot or iced coffee. No purchase is necessary to take advantage of this coffee break opportunity. Educators just need to let their baristas know they are there to claim the free offer and no proof of employment is necessary.

The teacher’s treat coincides with the return of Dunkin Donuts’ famous fall lineup. The freebie doesn’t mean educators have to drink plain flavored cups o’ joe. They can add in a flavor shot of pumpkin swirl, or one of the other offerings like mocha, caramel, or even peanut butter swirl.

Dunkin Donuts isn’t just recognizing American teachers with a free cup of coffee. Besides this one-day offer, the company is holding a sweepstake to reward teachers across the nation. Called Raise A Cup to Teachers, this giveaway runs from September 1 through October 5. Individuals can fill out the form to nominate a deserving teacher.

At the end of the sweepstakes, Dunkin Donuts will choose one grand-prize winner in each state. The winner won’t just get free coffee once, but for an entire year to fuel them through the school day. Each winner’s school will be given a coffee break in which Dunkin’ will deliver $300 worth of products for the entire staff.

Most Americans understand how strenuous a teacher’s job is, and more and more businesses are recognizing the hard work put in by educators every school day. Dunkin Donuts isn’t the only coffee retailer offering educators a free jolt of caffeine. Many other chains and local companies are showing appreciation as teachers head back into the classroom with similar freebies.

Going a step above Dunkin Donuts, Wawa is offering educators free hot coffee for the entire month of September. Participating locations are found in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC. This offer is good for any size of hot coffee each and every day. This means teachers can fuel up before starting the busy school day or even use it as a pick-me-up to finish out the day afterward.

Teachers should also check locally for freebie opportunities heading back into the school year. Dunkin Donuts’ teacher recognition may be widely publicized, but many local businesses are also serving up goodies for free. Scooters, a popular coffee chain with scattered locations throughout the Midwest will also offer a token of appreciation to teachers. Educators who show a valid school I.D at any location can get a free drink of any size from September 1st through September 7th.

Teachers report being under more stress than ever before. Much of that is due to criticizing parents and politicians. At a time when education is a top priority in many political races, it is important to recognize those who put in work and effort each and every day to help children catch up and cope with a life-changing pandemic. Companies like Dunkin Donuts, and others are more than happy to reward educators for their labors.
