Hollywood has a way of making people look flawless. Between the lighting, the makeup artists, the stylists, and the carefully curated red carpet angles, it’s easy to forget that the people you see on screen are just that — people.

But underneath all the polish, plenty of A-listers carry physical quirks, anomalies, and imperfections that most fans have never noticed. Some of them talk about it openly.

Others have hidden it for years. Either way, these little details make them far more interesting than any magazine cover lets on.

Megan Fox and Her Clubbed Thumbs

Megan Fox has been called one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood for over two decades. But her thumbs tell a different story — both of them are shorter and wider than average, a condition called brachydactyly.

The thumbs are noticeably stubby with a rounded tip, sometimes described as “toe thumbs.” Fox has never pretended to be bothered by it. She’s spoken about it casually in interviews, and at this point it’s more of a fun trivia fact than anything else.

Karolina Kurkova’s Missing Belly Button

If you’ve ever looked closely at photos of former Victoria’s Secret model Karolina Kurkova, you might have noticed something a little off. She doesn’t have a belly button — at least not a standard one.

As an infant, she had surgery to correct an umbilical hernia, and the procedure left her with smooth skin where a navel would normally be. Photographers and magazine editors have quietly retouched it over the years, which is why most people never realized.

Denzel Washington’s Crooked Pinky

Denzel Washington is one of the most commanding presences in film. But look at his right hand, specifically the pinky finger, and you’ll see it bends sharply at an odd angle.

He broke it playing basketball as a kid and it healed without being set properly. It’s never slowed him down, clearly, but it’s the kind of thing that’s hard to unsee once you notice it.

Ashton Kutcher’s Webbed Toes

Ashton Kutcher actually showed off his webbed toes on a British talk show, wiggling them at the camera without any apparent embarrassment. The condition is called syndactyly, and in his case the second and third toes on each foot are fused together.

He treated it like it was the most normal thing in the world, which honestly, it kind of is — syndactyly is one of the more common limb differences at birth.

Joaquin Phoenix’s Microform Cleft

That distinctive scar above Joaquin Phoenix’s upper lip isn’t from an accident. He was born with a microform cleft — a mild form of cleft lip that didn’t require surgical repair. The result is a small indentation that runs from his lip toward his nose.

It gives his face a subtle asymmetry that’s become part of his look, and it suits the intensity he brings to almost every role.

Mark Wahlberg Has More Than Two Mammillae

Mark Wahlberg has talked openly about having a third nipple on his left side. It’s called supernumerary nipple, or polythelia, and it’s more common than most people realize — somewhere around 1 in 18 people have one.

Wahlberg used to call it his “third nipple” without any fanfare, and at some point he reportedly had it removed. Either way, it’s not exactly the image his Calvin Klein campaigns projected.

Vince Vaughn Is Missing Part of His Thumb

Vince Vaughn lost the tip of his right thumb in a car accident when he was 17. He was a passenger and his hand was hanging out the window when the car rolled.

The accident also left him partially deaf in one ear. He’s pretty open about both, and neither has obviously hindered a career that’s spanned decades of comedies and dramatic roles.

Harry Styles and His Four Mammillae

Harry Styles has four mammillae— he’s confirmed it himself in multiple interviews, seemingly delighted to share the information. Like Wahlberg, this falls under polythelia, but Styles has leaned into it as part of his overall persona.

Given that he’s spent a considerable amount of his career shirtless or in sheer tops, it’s not exactly a hidden detail.

Kate Bosworth’s Two Different Eye Colors

Kate Bosworth has heterochromia, meaning her eyes are two different colors. One is blue and the other is hazel with a brown sector.

It’s genuinely striking in person, and in film it’s sometimes played down with contacts and specific lighting. In other work it’s left entirely natural. Either way, it’s not an imperfection in any conventional sense — though it does contradict the idea of a perfectly symmetrical face that the beauty industry tends to push.

Elizabeth Taylor’s Double Eyelashes

Elizabeth Taylor had a rare genetic mutation called distichiasis, which gave her a double row of eyelashes. Rather than making her eyes look cluttered, the mutation created the unusually dramatic, dark-framed look that became one of her trademarks. What most people attributed to heavy makeup was partly just how her eyes were built.

It’s one of those cases where the anomaly actually worked in her favor aesthetically, even if it can cause eye irritation for many who have the condition.

Tina Fey’s Facial Scar

Tina Fey has a scar on the left side of her chin and cheek. She was cut by a stranger when she was five years old, playing in the front yard of her house in Pennsylvania.

For years she rarely discussed it, and because she tends to be photographed from a particular angle, many people didn’t notice it at all. She’s since addressed it more directly in interviews, describing it plainly and without dramatizing it.

Forest Whitaker’s Drooping Eyelid

Floating just below normal, Forest Whitaker’s left eyelid rests in a gentle slump because of ptosis, a slackness in the lifting muscle. That uneven openness shapes part of how he appears – never fixed, always present.

Not something hidden or corrected, instead folded into roles like natural shading. The way light catches that slight sag adds depth without words.

Many filmmakers treat it not as a flaw but texture, part of what draws attention quietly. Expression leaks through slowly there, building weight across seconds.

Most performers search for ways to stand out; this simply exists, still, saying volumes.

Daryl Hannah Missing Part of Finger

Fingers aren’t always what they seem on screen. A pulley near her grandma’s place took part of Daryl Hannah’s left pointer finger when she was small.

For certain movies, fake parts helped fill the gap. Other times, nothing covered it at all.

Back during Splash and Blade Runner days, few noticed anything off. Once someone points it out, though, you can’t unsee it.

Stephen Colbert’s Ear Changed By Surgery

One childhood operation changed how Stephen Colbert hears. A fix meant for a torn eardrum took too much tissue by mistake.

Because of that, sound barely registers in his right ear now. His outer ear tilts just off center compared to the left.

Small shift. Not obvious unless someone points it out first.

He once said losing that hearing pushed him toward books. Imagination filled spaces where noise should have been.

Lily Allen Has Three Mammillae

Lily Allen carries an extra mammilla, placed beneath her left breast. Talking about it doesn’t faze her – she just states it like any other detail.

More than a few well-known faces have the same trait: Wahlberg, Styles, Allen – it shows up often enough. Maybe genes play a role.

Or perhaps those in the spotlight simply grow used to sharing personal bits when lenses roll. This small feature appears so regularly that calling it rare feels odd.

The Difference Between How Things Look and What They Really Are

DepositPhotos

Not one of these things makes them any less appealing, skilled, or accomplished. In fact, they hint at the effort behind shaping a star who seems out of reach. Toes stuck together stay tucked in footwear.

Blemishes vanish under light tricks. Heavy lids turn into something famous.

Most mornings, people look nothing like their glossy photos. Yet right in that difference – where reality shows up messy – that’s when things get real.
